At the nature observation point known as the Eulenturm (owl tower), resident birds, flocking birds and migratory birds can be observed all year round. In late autumn, however, hundreds of birds rest on the banks of Griebnitzsee Lake every day before carrying on to warmer climes. A small but excellent exhibition on the history of fishing on Griebnitzsee Lake can be seen at Althüttendorf nature observation point.
