The Finow Canal passes through the former industrial town of Eberswalde, which is surrounded by dense forest. Extensively destroyed during the war, the town still has some remarkable historic buildings such as the old and new town halls and the imposing brick basilica of St. Maria Magdalena dating from the 13th century.

In order to get to know the history, art and culture of the town better, the Eberswalde tourist information centre offers themed guided tours from March to October. The guided tours take place once a month on Sunday at 2 p.m. One hour each. The meeting point is the tourist information centre at Steinstrasse 1. Individual guided tours can also be booked subject to prior arrangement taking special requests into consideration.
