Green gold from Beelitz: The Thomas Syring organic farm. The Syring family runs its asparagus and pumpkin farm in the asparagus heartland of Beelitz, and more precisely in the village district of Zauchwitz. The family business’ two main crops are a perfect fit for each other: the pumpkins take over the stage when the asparagus harvest has come to an end in late June. They are unique in Brandenburg, as Thomas Syring is the only organic farmer in Brandenburg to produce pumpkin seed oil and pumpkin seeds.

Regional cooperation
The range of regional products on the shelves is very wide as it comes from around 20 small companies from the surrounding area, all of whom are part of the “Offene Höfe” (Open Farms) network. It ranges from bee-keepers to preserve manufacturers, meat farms, fish farms and bakeries. Oil and seeds are also available through the following distribution partners: the Klosterhof Töplitz Winery, the Frucht-Erlebnis-Garten, the regional natural food store, Syring’s online shop, the Genuss-Eck in Beelitz, the shop window in the Glauer wildlife enclosure and the Zauchwitz farm shop.
Product range
The farm shop sells fresh seasonal produce directly from the field: depending on the season, asparagus, strawberries, potatoes, blueberries, apples, pumpkins etc., supplemented by plenty of tasty, durable specialities. This ranges from Beelitz pumpkin seed oil, Beelitz pumpkin seeds to munch on (sweet or savoury), jams, spreads and spirits. Some produce can also be bought in the online shop, so that you always have some Fläming produce on your table.
Leisure activities on the farm
A playground and petting zoo with pigs and goats is situated right next to the farm shop with its large terrace. To the left of the farm shop are beds of pick-your-own flowers and cultured blueberries (not organic), and behind them sheep, goats and horses. At the beginning of September, the pumpkin farm traditionally celebrates its two-day pumpkin festival. In action: The demonstration press used to showcase the production of oil.
Guided tours
Guided tours are available on request.
Leisure activities in the vicinity
The Stangenhagen circular trail and the Lake Riebener See circular trail pass just one kilometre from the farm and the Fläming Walk is also a perfect route for a walk. The F5 cycle path is just 0.5 kilometres away. The nearest tourist destinations are the Genuss-Eck in Beelitz (2 kilometres), Blankensee with its castle, park, boardwalk and Farming Museum (16 kilometres) and the Nature Park Centre at the Glauer Valley wildlife enclosure (20 kilometres).
