Baruth Old Castle was once the seat of the Lordship of Baruth. It consists of a building complex that included the old and the new castles. The separate old castle was built on foundations dating from the 13th century. The current building dates from 1671 and was fully renovated from 2009 to 2013. The new castle includes an ensemble of three, unfortunately mostly destroyed structures that reflect elements of the Baroque and Classical periods. Parts of the building were used by the municipality during the GDR era, for example as a nursery, a restaurant and a school. The old castle was converted into apartments and the grand hall was used to show films.

Since being renovated, Baruth Old Castle is used as a regional culture centre for a wide variety of events, exhibitions and celebrations. The careful renovation of the building revealed a series of exciting and very different rooms. It combines witnesses to the various epochs with contemporary architecture and modern design. The old castle can be booked for weddings, conventions and large events.

The landscape park next to the castle was designed by the court gardener Peter Joseph Lenné in 1838 for the Solms-Baruth family, under whose reign the heyday of Baruth glass-making began. The main features of the park are the enormous trees, meadow areas, drainage channels and ponds. The park is freely accessible and admission is free.
