Built between 1736 and 1738 by the sculptor Johann Georg Glume, the Kurfürstendenkmal monument is regarded as the most important sandstone monument in Northern Germany. It is a memorial to the successful victory of the Great Elector Frederick William of Brandenburg against the Swedes.
