Relaxation for all: the Bio Ranch Zempow (Farmers’ Association: Gäa)
Continue readingcollapse
Stress is banned on the 440-hectare Zempow organic ranch belonging to Swantje and Wilhelm Schäkel. Anyone who chances on the farm situated between Wittstock and Rheinsberg will seek and find relaxation. The organic ranch has three main focuses: seminars, rural holidays and Angus beef.
Cow-whispering seminars
Even the seminar programme is all about peace and quiet. In the same way, “Low Stress Stockmanship” teaches guests how to intuitively lead cows and the stress-free handling of herd animals, also known as “cow whispering” in Zempow. This is important in herd animals for a pleasant and species-appropriate life. Humans can also take part in courses with the cow as a coach, including "Cow language for beginners” and “Cow herd for a day” or communication training. The theory is taught in seminar rooms, which hold up to 30 people. The organic ranch also arranges other activities associated with cow whispering, including steak courses or so-called ranch challenges.
Traditional Angus beef
Once a month, the Schäkel family slaughters one of its animals and allows the meat to mature for two weeks in Bollewick's Glazed Agricultural Workshops. It is then cut up using the very best traditional craftsmanship and sliced ready to eat; steaks and roasts mature for another two to four weeks. This gives the Angus beef its full flavour. It can be bought freshly cut once a month by pre-ordering it. Meat and grilled sausages are available at any time in the farm shop.
Accommodation at the ranch
For many years, the classic family holiday has been a holiday on the farm. The Bio Ranch rents out two holiday homes and six holiday apartments, the indoor climate of which is very comfortable, thanks to their ecological timber construction. There is always wood available for an evening camp fire. There is also a sauna available for guests.
Product range
Meat, sausage
Leisure activities on the farm
Rural activities are also offered with the other herd animals. There are 20 horses, ponies and donkeys available at the Bio Ranch for horse lovers, as well as a riding area and hiking trails through the forests and meadows. Children, in particular, love walking the Gotland sheep. The Bio Ranch team always organises Organic Experience Days every Tuesday in the school holidays for children.
Guided tours
The Ecological Agriculture demonstration business is happy to guide interested groups around the farm on request.
