The train station in Burg was closed down, after the Spreewald train ‘Spreewald-Guste’ had been taken out of service in 1970. Since 1995, the historic station building has been home to the guest house and restaurant ‘Spreewaldbahnhof’. Solid German cuisine with regional influences is served in a rustic ambience with various objects from bygone days. The menu includes schnitzels, as well as Solyanka in a bread bowl, and of course gherkin salad made from original Spreewald gherkins.

As a reminder of the building’s past in the railway industry, orders and drinks are taken and delivered by means of a model train. Historic railway carriages and draisines are on display in front of the station.
