Prenzlau’s three-aisled main parish church St Mary’s is northern Germany’s oldest single-nave church. It is a significant monument of the north German brick Gothic style of the 13th and 14th century. It sadly burned out completely during the last few days of the 2nd World War and reconstruction did not begin until 1970.
