The Old Ship Lift from 1934—the oldest of its kind still in operation—and the ultra-modern New Ship Lift from 2022 together form a unique link in the European inland waterway network. From March to October, the passenger ships “Luise” and “Freiherr von Münchhausen II” offer regular scheduled trips.
Tour: The starting point is the pier in the Lower Harbor at the Old Ship Lift, very close to the historic Finow Canal. After ascending via the ship lift, the boat turns around in the Upper Harbor. It then returns to the starting point—with an optional stop in the Upper Harbor. During the trip, you’ll receive fascinating background information on the history of the Oder Bend, the ship lifts, and how they work. The trip lasts approximately 45 to 90 minutes.
Boats: The “Freiherr von Münchhausen II” can accommodate 60 people below deck, 40 people on the upper deck, and 25 people on the covered open deck. The “Luise” can accommodate 44 people under a sunroof that can be opened as needed, as well as an additional 15 people on the open deck. Both ships offer a small selection of snacks.
Schedule: From mid-March to the end of October, daily departures are at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m., with additional departures at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on weekends.
Boarding point: Boarding point in the lower harbor. Passengers are asked to arrive at the boarding point 20 minutes before departure. Please note that the walk from the parking lot to the boarding point takes approximately 10 minutes.
